Whether it
is the seller or buyer who write the check the money comes out of the
transaction, except for a small retainer. What is most important to
remember is the one who writes the check is the one Amvest represents.
Too often
sellers believe they can handle the sale themselves and save the fee.
The seller may win the battle by saving the fee but loose the war by
receiving a lower selling price, less favorable terms, be unable to
resolve important issues, keep the sale from employees and customers,
unable to keep the sale confidential (you can't maintain confidentiality
if you are the one saying you are for sale). Not to mention the
disruption to the business, which can seriously effect the sale and
purchase price. Their are very good reasons major corporations retain
investment banks even when they have merger and acquisition people on
staff.
If Amvest
represents the seller it is our job to get the seller the best price and
terms. On the other hand if Amvest represents the buyer we are going to
do our best to get the buyer the lowest price and best terms for the
buyer.
When all
is said an done, is it really worth a few dollars to try and do it
yourself, when the money really comes from the buyer anyway.
